Week 1 - Wed, Thurs, Sept 5, 6
Reading: All course website pages available so far - follow the instructions you find there.

Week 2 - Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sept 10, 12, 13
Reading: For week 2 (and 3), portions of Chapter 2: The Relational Model.
Specifically: Secs. 2.1 - 2.5. In Sec. 2.6 read all but only skim the section The Product Operation. In Sec. 2.7 read all, but skip the material The Division Operation. Study the examples in Sec. 2.9.

Week 3 - Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sept 17, 19, 20
Reading: For week 3, Finish reading the portions of Chapter 2 previously listed. Begin reading Chapter 3: Basic SQL Query Language,
Specifically: Secs. 3.1-3.3. Do an initial read-through of Sec. 3.4 (this will continue into Week 4).

Week 4 - Mon, Wed, Thurs, Sept 24, 26, 27
Homework #1 was due 11:59pm Monday September 24th.
Reading: Sec. 3.4 and the section Handling Null Values.

Week 5 - Mon (cancelled!), Wed, Thurs, Oct 3, 4

Reading: Begin reading chapter 6, Database Design
Specifically: Secs. 6.1-6.2.

Week 6 - (Monday holiday) Wed, Thurs, Oct 10, 11
Homework #2 is due 11:59pm Tuesday, Oct 9th.
Reading: Secs. 6.3-6.5. If any of your Chapter 6 readings discuss SQL commands for insert, update, and delete statements, refer to Sec. 3.10 in your textbook.

Week 7 - Mon, Wed, Thurs, Oct 15, 17, 18
Homework #3 is due Wednesday, Oct 17th, at the beginning of class.
Reading: After Sec. 6.5, the text varies from easy to very hard, so we'll be picking our way through it carefully, focusing primarily on what is needed to answer the homework exercises and what is needed to help you design databases correctly. So stay tuned.

Week 8 - Mon, Wed, Thurs, Oct 22, 24, 25
Homework #4 is due Thursday, Oct 25th, at the beginning of class.
