This homework focuses on the Normalization approach to DB Design, including the concept of functional dependencies. The book's treatment is quite mathematical, and I'll teach it primarily through examples, not math. So the for the two exercises assigned below, do your best, by studying the examples in the book, listening in class, and using your best common sense, as the book often does when explaining the point of the various theorems and statements presented there.
I will very likely be able to either replace one or both of the exercises below with some more reasonable ones, over the next week or so, as we get further into our discusssions of normalization and functional dependencies.
