RESEARCH

My research interests are in natural language, specifically computational linguistics and discourse analysis.

Currently, I am working with Professor Robert Futrelle to analyze language used in papers from BioMed Central, which has been estimated to contain 300 million words of biology and medical research.  We argue that language in biomedical research is comprised of a modest number of commonly used constructions (see Construction Grammar).  Identifying these constructions involves normalization, transformation and statistical analysis of text.
