Computing and Software Resources

Computing Resources
Due to the special needs of the College of Computer and Information Science, we maintain our own computing resources for our students. We support proctored computer labs of WindowsXP and UNIX platforms.

UNIX Tutorial
Here's a good resource for beginners with UNIX

FTP Server
Exported material available via anonymous FTP from ftp.ccs.neu.edu. We also provide a Web Gateway to our FTP server. Note: down at the moment, due to return within a few months.

HOWTO Documents
A set of small documents designed to help with specific tasks like creating a web page here at CCIS, connecting securely to our environment, and retrieving deleted files.

Software Projects & Archives
This section describes some of the software we've developed locally, as well as some of the cool software we've installed. There are also a few pointers to useful reference materials.

Software & Research Mirrors
This section provides a collection of help and reference documents that we have spun together from various parts of the net. The information in here ranges from general UNIX introductions to Internet tutorials and to programming languages. We found these documents useful, and decided to `mirror' them locally to make them generally available to all. We hope you find them useful.
