Virgil Pavlu |

Virgil Pavlu's research interests lie in information retrieval, machine
learning, data mining, and other fields related to the organization
and retrieval of information, particularly text information. His most
recent work includes the development of minimum-effort evaluation
techniques for search engines, as put in practice within the annual
TREC conference.
As a postdoctoral associate at Northeastern University, he is
teaching courses on machine learning, information retrieval and
algorithms. He completed his PhD in August 2008 with a dissertation in
the field of information retrieval entitled, "Large Scale IR
evaluation." Virgil also holds a BA in mathematics.
