Collin Mulliner is a systems security researcher in the area of mobile and embedded systems. His main emphasis is the security and privacy of mobile handsets and smartphones and the attached services and infrastructure. Since 1997 he has worked with a variety of mobile devices and most of the mobile platforms for either software development or security work. Prior to his entering research full time he was an embedded system engineer at Archos.
Collin has a broad interest in information security in general, with a particular interest in vulnerability analysis and offensive security. Recently, he switched his focus to the defensive side to work on mitigations and countermeasures. In addition to his academic work he regularly speaks at major industry conferences.
He received his PhD from Technische Universität Berlin in 2011, and a MS and BS in computer science from UC Santa Barbara and FH-Darmstadt.
