Before joining Northeastern, Erik-Oliver Blass researched security and privacy for RFID systems as a postdoc and senior researcher at EURECOM, France. Specifically, he designed new protocols for authentication, payment, and anti-counterfeiting. Prior to this, he researched wireless sensor networks and designed protocols for key exchange and secure data aggregation.
He holds a Diploma and a PhD (with distinction) in computer science from Universität Karlsruhe in Germany. His thesis was awarded the prize for best security research thesis by the German Association for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD) in 2007.
