CCIS Senior to present at VMWorld
Nathan's project titled "MOVARTO: Server Migration across Networks using Route Triangulation and DNS" solves a basic problem faced by enterprises - how to move a service across the wide area network while minimizing downtime and attendant disruptions. Existing techniques deal with moving a service only within a network segment. However, MOVARTO is able to move services across network segments. It does so by a careful layering of networking technologies - route triangulation and DNS - and extends virtualization from servers to networks, achieving "network virtualization." This project was done in collaboration with Prof Ravi Sundaram of CCIS.
"VMware is very pleased to showcase the innovative network virtualization project coming from a Northeastern student for our first academic poster session at VMworld in September 2007." said Julia Austin, Senior Director R&D, VMWare.
