Nomad Network Documentation

  • Download the IPSec tool. Check under the IPSec heading for more information.
  • Check it out. A new website!
Where do I start?
What is my login name and password?
  • Your login name is the same as your UNIX login name. If you do not have a UNIX login name, go to 310 West Village H (WVH) and pick up an account request form. Follow the Instructions on the form to get your UNIX account.
  • Your password is different than your UNIX password. Passwords for Nomad are called remote passwords, and can be obtained by running the remotepw program.
How do I run the remotepw program?
  1. If you do not already have a remote password, you must obtain one before you can use the wireless network. Login or SSH into a CCIS machine.
  2. Type remotepw and press the Return key.
  3. Follow the on screen instructions to set your remote password.
Now what?

Simply follow the instructions under the wireless, dialup, or community port sections to connect to nomad. Then open a browser window, and it should redirect you to a page where you can log on. If it doesn't redirect you, simply go to 'http://nomad.ccs.neu.edu/'.

Why can't I use certain services with a remote login?

One answer is that you might not have IPSec turned on. This would restrict you from using any services that would require a secure login. Check out the IPSec documentation for more information.
