Nadia Thompson
Nadia Thompson was born in Southport, Australia and trained with her mothers school "Frances Davis Thompson School of Dancing".
Ms. Thompson completed all RAD exams and attained her "Solo Seal" at the young age of 16. Then she traveled to the "Royal Ballet School" in London and under her mothers school won a Bronze medal in the world renowned "Adeline Genee Awards".
Ms. Thompson toured with the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet Company (now Birmingham Royal Ballet) in her graduate year of the Royal Ballet School. From here Ms. Thompson joined the joined the "Northern Ballet Theatre" (NBT) where she quickly became a senior soloist. She spent three and a half years with NBT where she performed all principal roles in the repertoire including Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Giselle and Myrtha in Giselle, Swanhilda in Coppelia, Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty and Kitri in Don Quixote. Ms. Thompson also performed for Her Majesty The Queen in the Royal Variety Performance.
Ms. Thompson then joined London City Ballet and performed as Leading Artist for three years. During this time she performed many roles including Good Girl and Fouette Girls in Graduation Ball, Blue Girls and White Couple Pas De Deux in Les Patineurs, Prelude in Les Sylphide, Principal Lady in Laurencia, Amelia in Othello, Clazina in Witchboy and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. Ms. Thompson also danced quest performances during this time of Sugar Plum from Nutcracker.
During her long career Ms. Thompson toured throughout Europe and also to Singapore and Bangkok. Ms. Thompson also danced before Royalty many times, including; Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, The Duchess of York and Prince Edward.
In 1993 Ms. Thompson signed a Soloist contract with the world renowned Boston Ballet and is currently dancing with them. Her roles in Boston Ballet include Snow Queen and Sugar Plum in Nutcracker, Swanhilda in Coppelia, Crossover Girl in Upper Room, Myrtha in Giselle, Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Palmyra in Abdallah, I Can Dream Lady in Company B, Elegy Girl in Serenade, Principal Lady in Who Cares?, The Nightingale in The Nightingale, Artist in Waterbaby Bagatelles and Ms. Thompson also had two roles created for her Principal Lady in Summer Dreams and Principal Lady in Celts.
During her four years in Boston Ms. Thompson has been pursuing her talent for teaching and coaching. During the extended break in the summer Ms. Thompson is a faculty member of the prestigious Boston Ballet Summer Dance Programme. Ms. Thompson has been a continuing teacher for the programme since 1994. Ms. Thompson also teaches for the Boston Ballet Affiliate School. During the past years in Boston Ms. Thompson has taught various Masterclasses and also taught in the Newton School and also auditioned Massachusetts dancers for the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory. During the summer of 1996 Ms. Thompson taught in Brisbane at The Dance School of Excellence and is intending on returning in the near future. Ms. Thompsons most recent appointment is in Boston. Ms. Thompson has been rehearsing Bruce Marks Nutcracker and also teaching Boston Ballet Company.
