When Spring comes walking o'er the hill
With new-grown grass and daffodils
The trees throw off their wintry trance
And put their finest on to dance.

When Spring comes walking down the lane,
With warming winds, and gentle rain
The birds take wing and follow, high
Above, in outline, through the sky.

When Spring comes knocking at the door
(Sweet nature's promise, held in store
Throughout the winter's dark'ning night)
Our hearts rejoice, and praise the light.
