Of him, we have this to say:
He is hardly a romantic figure, although he is a Romantic; often cynical though not a cynic. A lover all too infrequently; he is usually in love: a state of affairs which is not as bitter as it may sound. His countenance is not perhaps quite as unstriking as he feels it to be. If we are to be honest, he fears himself to be one of those men like Cecil from A Room With a View, although his heart is with George, and if luck or the whims of Fate are kind, he may well serve.
