I *don't* want to explain. You need to learn some basic material on languages and automata theory. Until you have grasped those fields you will continue to demonstrate more arrogance than understanding. Language and Automata theory contain some of the core foundational principles to the study of programming language semantics. > I couldn't figure out any relevance of Kevin's (very > clever) posts to my semantics, which involved a sem function I know, that's why I'm pointing you to the topics you will need to study in order to understand the relevance of Kevin's posts. I'm not going to waste, time, bandwidth, and precious keystrokes (I also suffer from RSI) trying to teach you something which you don't appear interested in learning. Indeed, it looks like you have so convinced yourself of your correctness that you have completely stopped listening. And while your condescension might be apropriate for the likes of my own dear self (I have never pretended to be more than a dilettante at the harder aspects of the math here), your ignorance of the basics of our field makes you appear to be singularly unqualified to judge that *you* are right while the likes of Will Clinger and Matthias Blume are wrong. In short, your 'pure math' background ain't worth crap. And it's fooling you into thinking you know more than you do. And if you think this will help you get a job somewhere, then you need to get a real life. You're only going to end up looking really stupid. david rush -- Science explains what is happening around us the whole time.
