Processing the PhD Paper Requirement

Required Information

The submission should include the citation or other description of the paper, a URL for the paper, and a short paragraph answering the questions below.

The paragraph should indicate:

  1. What was the student's contribution to the paper?
  2. Is the paper submitted/published in a conference? Which one? What is the acceptance rate (if known)?
  3. Why should this paper be considered as qualified for fulfilling the paper requirement?

Please refer to the Paper Requirement under PhD Academic Requirement section in the Graduate Guidebook for further details.

Submission Procedure

Please send me a message with the student's name and the URL of a web page containing the information above. I've made up a sample page that you can use as a template.

Action Procedure

I will make up a table (sample below) of the currently active submissions. I will periodically send the committee a message asking the members to look at the submitted materials and respond by a fixed date.

You should respond by sending me a short message identifying the student and either your approval or other comments.

Once the committee has responded, I will forward a recommendation to Agnes, who will formally send a letter of approval.

Hopefully, this will not require much time from anybody.

If this works, we won't have to hold a meeting to act on these.
