This is my short bio: Dr. Giuseppe Taibi is Co-Founder and CEO of SmartWorlds, a software company focused on location-aware applications for mobile devices. SmartWorlds software enables applications to deliver personalized content and services based on the location of the host device. Typical applications include campus and museum guides, security and mobile commerce. Prior to SmartWorlds, Dr. Taibi founded Altoprofilo, a premier IT consulting and implementation firm based in Milan, Italy with a research center in Cambridge, MA. Originally founded in 1996, Altoprofilo boasts a client portfolio including first-class Italian corporations such as Enel, Intesa BCI, H3G, and eBiscom. Altoprofilo was funded by Pirelli, Benetton and Merrill Lynch in 1999. As a Research Associate at Boston University he investigated the integration of artificial intelligence and signal processing for wireless communications, music and biomedical signals interpretation. Dr. Taibi teaches his course on "Applied Innovation in Mobile Computing" at Harvard University. He earned his Doctorate in Electronic, Software and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy. While an undergraduate at Palermo University, he founded and directed an independent student organization, Gruppo Universitario Interdisciplinare (GUI), whose purpose was to enable students of different colleges to meet and exchange ideas about their disciplines. This approach was the founding principle behind the formation of Altoprofilo. Dr. Taibi is a founding member of the International Council of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at JFK School of Government, Harvard University, and a World Economic Forum attendee.
