Title: Startup Stories - Trying to be in the right place at the right time with the right thing Bio: Mark Halliday is an entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in both software development and film production. He founded his second startup, MediaPearls in May 2000. He raised an angel round and led the drive to establish the company as a leader in the rich media application development space. Prior to MediaPearls, he developed new digital products for feature film production for Panavision. He led the development team of PreView, a software tool that allows cinematographers to emulate film using digital images. Prior to Panavision in 1996, Mark founded his first startup, Network Sound & Light, a software firm that developed products for sending digital postcards via email. Mark also made movies as an independent filmmaker in New York from 1985 to 1989, directing, writing and producing a number of documentaries, and co-writing and co-directing a 35mm feature film. Mark holds an MS degree from the MIT Media Lab. His research in the Interactive Cinema group focused on digital movies that edit themselves as they are being watched. Mark studied computer science and film at Dartmouth College where he received a BA degree.
