Hi Class -
I received a couple of questions regarding setting your path and
classpath variables.
Definitely set this up in the ".software" file in your local directory.
I believe that using the "setenv" statement to set an environmental
variable will set the variable for your current shell... next time you
start another shell, I don't think it will be set. Using the
".software" file will set the environmental variables every time you
open a shell. This means that after you modify the software file, you
will need to start another shell. The easiest way to do this is to
start another terminal window. now your variables should be set.
If anyone in class sees a mistake in what I have written, please respond
to the entire class... I am definitly not a big UNIX user.
if your variables are set correctly, you should now be able to type "ajc
-?" at the command prompt and get a list of exceptable options for the
aspectj compiler. If you can't run the aspectj compiler at this point,
your variables have not been set correctly.
Hope this helps,
Paul
