1. To run the application you have to login to alpha machines. 2. If you are logging from some other machine make sure you have permission to open xsession and set DISPLAY variable properly. 3. Add /proj/asl/kedar/APStudio to your classpath. Muy CLASSPATH looks like this ==> /proj/demsys/demjava/classes:/proj/asl/kedar/APStudio 3. The application requires 2 enviroment variables. a) INSTALL_DIR b) IO_DIR 4. Set the above variables using setenv or add them to your .software file. Set INSTALL_DIR to /proj/asl/kedar/APStudio and IO_DIR to your input/ouput directory. The script for running the application is at /proj/asl/kedar/APStudio/bin and hence add this to your path. My .software file looks like ==> --------------------------Start of included file ----------------------- @gnu-all # Make GNU utils override standard system commands @all # Get the default/standard set of applications. PATH=/lib:/usr/lib:/proj/demsys/demjava/bin # Include /lib stuff @x-windows # All basic X utilities home # Add ~/bin and ~/bin/$ARCH dot # Add the current directory (".") ######################################## AP-STUDIO settings INSTALL_DIR=/proj/asl/kedar/APStudio IO_DIR=/home/kedar PATH=/proj/asl/kedar/APStudio/bin ######################################## AP-STUDIO settings ------------------------End of included file------------------------------ If you don't set those variables you are likely to run into problems. 5. To run the application enter apstudio at the command prompt. Screen shot : [fluorine: ~] > apstudio Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-Menu-Medium-R-Normal--*-120-*-*-P-*-I SO8859-1" to type FontStruct Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for default background 6. Also one extra input. [fluorine: ~] > echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/lib:/arch/com/corba/lib /proj/demsys/demjava/classes/java/awt/:.
