The Chipwich Misnomer - An Open Letter to the Makers of the Chipwich

Recently I purchased a Chipwhich at Broadway Market in Cambridge, MA. I have to say I was disappointed. The name 'Chipwich' makes me think that there will be chocolate chips exploding from the ice cream in the middle of the sandwich. That was not the case!

To my chagrin, I found only plain vanilla ice cream when I bit into my Chipwich. The only chips that I encountered in my dining experience were sprinkled around the edges of the ice cream. The chips in the cookie were few and far between.

So I come to you, the makers of the Chipwich, befuddled. If Chipwich is what is sounds like - a contraction of the words chip and sandwich - why are there no chips in the middle? I offer you these examples of sandwiches that are true to their name.

The list goes on. All of these sandwiches contain the matter in front of the word 'sandwich' in the middle of the sandwich.

This matter can be resolved in one of two ways.

  1. Begin making Chipwiches true to their name by making them with chocolate chip ice cream.
  2. Change the name of the Chipwich to 'Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between chocolate chip cookies with chips sprinkled on the outside, but no chips inside.'

As a concerned consumer, I ask you to please consider this serious issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Ladino
