Netrek Hockey: Beginner's Guide
Two Golden Rules
-
Read and respond to messages. There's nothing more frustrating
than playing with somebody you can't talk to.
-
Don't kill cripples! Sure, it's easy to kill all these scouts with
your CA, but a crippled scout is totally useless to his team. If your
teamates are yelling at you for killing, just stop shooting until you
know better.
The Basics
-
Possesion. To get the puck, put your tractors on it.
-
Shoot. To shoot the puck, pressor it. The puck will go in the
direction that your ship is pointing. In order to shoot:
- You must be close enough to the puck.
- You must be the closest person next to the puck.
- The puck can't be going too fast. If the puck's shields are down,
it is going too fast.
-
Pass. Now that you know how to shoot, pass to a teamate! Nobody
likes a puck hog.
Positioning
- Get open. If your team has the puck, try and get open so
your teamates can pass to you. Go where your teamates aren't. Stay
within passing range.
- Cover somebody. If the other team has the puck, find an
enemy not being covered and put a body on him.
