	V.A.S.T. Programmers Challenge Directive #1 - March, 1996.
								Version 1.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This months sponsors:

	Chuck Surack, Sweetwater Sound (RSI CD-ROM) First Place
	Larry Ketchell, Young Chang America (Various) Second, Third Place

Many, many thanks to Chuck, Larry and their companies! Due to their support,
the VPC is off to a great start!

This months topic was submitted by Darwin Grosse:

	"The first ten tutorials covered information about the
	various patch parameters available for a single patch.
	The only algorithm extensively covered was ALG #1 with
	a low-pass filter. Using the information covered in
	the first ten tutorials, combined with PRESET EFFECT #1,
	create a emulation of a MAD SCIENTIST'S FAVORITE PIECE
	OF EQUIPMENT. This is, obviously, an imaginary piece of
	gear -- so use your imagination. Program limits include
	one layer, only internal ROM sounds, only using effect
	#1. If you'd like, you can include a sequence to display
	the 'playing style' of your patch."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please limit your program as follows:

Algorithm:	#1 only
	Pitch	->	HiFreq Stimulator	->	Amp
	Pitch	->	Parametric EQ ->	Amp
	Pitch	->	Steep Resonant Bass	->	Amp
	Pitch	->	4Pole Lopass w/Sep	->	Amp
	Pitch	->	Twin Peaks Bandpass	->	Amp
	Pitch	->	Double Notch w/Sep	->	Amp
	Pitch	->	None			->	Amp

Keymap:		1-199 (internal stock ROM)
	(please reference your manual for a complete listing)
	(custom keymaps based on the internal stock ROM sounds are also
	 acceptable)

# of Layers:	1

Effect:		#1 (Sweet Hall) only

Control Sources: (the following are the minimum your program should support)
	0,33	Mono Pressure		(MPress)
	1	Modulation Wheel	(MWheel)
	6	Data Slider		(Data)
	35	Pitch Wheel		(PWheel)

ALL ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE A TEXT FILE DESCRIBING THE PROGRAM. I will post a
blank entry form, and have a copy available via ftp and the WWW, this weekend.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other than the above, use your imagination and be creative. I will be posting
the VPC-FAQ sometime over the weekend. It will include answers to many
questions. I am providing this info in somewhat incomplete form so that
everyone has ample time to experiment. All entries are due no later than
23:59:59 (EST) on March 31, 1996. Details on how to submit your entry will be
included on the VPC-FAQ. How to contact the VPC will be included then as
well.
