MIT IAP '00

Inventing a Home of the Future

Wednesdays and Fridays during IAP
Noon-1pm
Room 4-144
January 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28
Bring a bag lunch

Limited to 14 participants
Not for credit

Fueled by sugar, caffeine, bag lunches, and the knowledge that our current homes are technological dinosaurs, we will engage in some fast-paced, intensive brainstorming about the future of the home. Room by room, we will systematically discuss how we can improve the home using foreseeable technologies and, as a team, we will design a few components using digital or physical mockups. Some sessions will begin with mini-lectures on ideas being addressed by the House_n: MIT Home of the Future research project. Ideally, participants will have different backgrounds and form a multi-disciplinary team: architecture, engineering, computer science, and business. Our case scenario will be for an ultra-compact environment.

If you are interested, you can probably still join us but send email that describes why you are interested in this seminar and your relevant background.  Be sure to see the schedule, come with your intro page filled out, and review the online info.
