Project Idea
Due Monday October 17, beginning of
class
The purpose of this assignment is to get you brainstorming about a project you would be interested in working on for the course.
Based on your previous assignments and the readings and discussion so far, especially the most recent readings on EMA systems, identify two different ideas for projects that you would be interested in working on. Indicate whether you are interested in working on each idea alone or in a group (or either). Answer the following questions:
- What is the problem you have identified that you might be able to address in a course project? (This could be lack of easy-to-use software, lack of EMA implementations of particular surveys, the challenge of implementing surveys, lack of validation for measurement of particular behaviors, the difficulty of converting "traditional" measures to use new technology, etc.)
- Briefly describe a possible solution to this problem (e.g., designing a new system, implementing new surveys on existing software, conducting a small pilot experiment, etc.)
- If the solution you envision would require a team approach, indicate the skills you would need other team members to have, and clearly indicate what your role in the project might be.
- How would you define success for the project? When you are done, how would you know it, and what would be the impact or result when you (and/or the team) are successful?
- What would you need the most help with to be successful on your project idea?
Put your two ideas in order, with the idea you like best first.
The best ideas will be high impact if you/we are successful.
Make sure your document has your name, email, department, and year in school.
