There are numerous successful installations. -- Karl Lieberherr ============================================ From paulg@ccs.neu.edu Thu Oct 12 21:49:49 1995 From: Paul Guglielmino To: Karl Lieberherr Subject: demeter EOF problems part 2 I've found the cause of the problem. It gives me /proj/demeter/demeter/bin/demeter: syntax error at line 21: `end of file' unexpected while using my default shell which is zsh. But if I go to a tcsh shell and run demeter it works fine. Just wanted to let you know in case this problems arises with another student. So I did, and it was. Note: Demeter also works with csh. The csh scripts we have now cause problems when people use some shell other than csh/tcsh. Cun For now, our users have to use either csh or tcsh. It is on the stack of maintenance tasks. -- Karl =============================================== Vielen Dank fuer Ihre Geduld. Ihre Meldung ist jetzt in den "installation notes" und wird anderen Benuetzern hilfreich sein. Wir arbeiten jetzt an einer Java version die durch das Netz wird benutzt werden koennen. Although I had to 'make' some modifications in the delivered Imake/Make files. More specifically I had to: 1. include the following setences in the file $DEMETER/config/Imake.tmpl #include #include 2. Remove the following setence in the file $DEMETER/config/Demeter/Demeter.rules: .... make depend ... (Obs.: in 'demeter-compile:') 3. Modify the following setence in the file $DEMETER/config/Demeter/Demeter.rules: from: AllTarget(Makefile $(DEMETERUSERPROGRAM)) to: AllTarget($(DEMETERUSERPROGRAM)) The first modification was done because the respective Files were missing... The second, because the make depend rule was generating a 'not executable' set of 'make rules', as well the the third (it seems that, whith the AllTarget(Makefile... command, the Makefile was generated twice...and the second time it was 'not executable'). I don't know whatever those 'errors' are due to the diferent software base (I am using X11/R5 with gcc 2.6.3 in a SparStation with SunOS 4.1.3) or not. I hope it help making the system more portable.
