The most important decision of my life. That's what the counselors, my parents, and today's competitive culture engrained in my psyche prior to choosing a college. A year later and a year wiser, I realize my life depends less upon a stuffy degree, and rather with my ability to realize a work ethic and an intellectual style that allows me to excel in the classroom, workplace and in life. Although I am in no rush to abandon the challenge and vigor of the classroom, co-op offers an important opportunity to begin acclimating myself with the working world. Even in preparation, I have learned tools vital in successfully presenting myself. There is no doubt that on the job, I would continue to absorb new information and techniques that will improve me as an employee, as a computer scientist, and as a person.
It takes both an engineer and an artist to infiltrate the world of technology, and by no means am I entering into co-op blind to that world. Throughout high school I thrived on tinkering with my computer and designing software. Now, I have begun to expand my knowledge through honors classes in Computer Science at Northeastern, and my involvement as the online designer/editor of multiple student group publications on campus. Analysis and problem solving remain vital components in the field of CS, but creativity, looking beyond the conventional to innovate and enhance, is a strength that should not be overlooked. I bring unparalleled persistence, ingenuity, and passion to the field that will contribute to success in all aspects of the computer and informational sciences.
Those in technology can no longer be the stereotypical introvert, unwilling to feed off others and share their own talents. Along with the technological experience outlined in my resume, I offer examples of a strong social sense that helped me succeed in music, athletics, and customer service. Whether playing seamlessly with my high school orchestra, acting as a senior leader on my soccer and track teams, or working for two strong years at AMC helping our guests, I'm confident that I can work well in team settings by both contributing to and feeding off those around me.
The staple of co-op is the initiative and self-sufficiency that it evokes from its participants. I'm ready and willing to put in the hard work and preparation required to position myself for success in multiple fields. I simply ask for the opportunity to better myself as a worker, and undoubtedly better the company that gainfully employs me. I'm always available at my phone number listed above, and can conduct needed meetings and interviews throughout the Boston area on a given notice. My desire is to enter co-op Fall 2006, with two years of college under my belt and my whole life ahead of me.
