CoursePro

CoursePro is a highly versatile application for keeping track of courses, course data, assignments, and grades. It runs on the very powerful open source SuperWaba platform, allowing it to be used on a wide range of devices including devices running PalmOS, PocketPC, and MS Windows. Ideal for any student from the high school level up to graduate level, CoursePro incorporates an intuitive interface and a hearty feature set to provide the ideal environment for your academic needs.

Courses
Create new courses and keep track of all the pertinent course information. Define assignment types and their weights, and specify the weight of the course in credit hours.

Assignments
Create new assignments and add specific details such as a due date and assignment type. After the assignment is completed, specify your grade. Late indicators and due next indicators allow you to see what's late and what's due next at a glimpse.

Grades
Automatic grade calculation allows you to get immediate grade feedback and keep up to date on your progress throughout the semester. See your current GPA and get a detailed grade breakdown by assignment type as well as individual assignments. Customize grade definitions to allow tailored adherence to your school's grading scheme.

Custom Views
Smart filters allow viewing assignments to see only what you need. Hide done HideDone icon

allows the user to view only assignments that have not yet been completed. Hide graded HideGraded icon

allows the user to easily see which assignments are complete, but have not yet been assigned a grade.

V0.9.0 Released (04/30/04):
This version has a few enhancements including an option to change the text color of an assignment as a warning, instead of just displaying the exclamation point. There is a new syncing system so that manually copying the database to your device is no longer nessesary. There is also a new scrollbar which allows you to tap and hold on the buttons to keep scrolling. Lastly, there are a few bug fixes. You can download this new version at Handango.com. V0.8.1 Released (02/25/04):
Everyone, I fixed a problem with the calendar before releasing but then aparently uploaded the wrong files. I have rereleased V0.8.0 as V0.8.1 and included the fix. If you installed V0.8.0, you should upgrade to this version. I have also released the native version of the program for Palm users. This version does not need SuperWaba and will run 5-10 times faster than the VM version. It is, however, not completely tested. Use it at your own risk.

V0.8.0 Released (02/22/04):
This version has many changes. Some of the changes include a major code rewrite which allows for much better extendability. The calendar is much more complete and adds clickable courses and assignments as well as view selection. Color schemes are now savable. Non-color devices can use the color settings now. You can change an assignment's due date by clicking on its date on the main screen. CoursePro now has a more professional look. Upgraders please note that the color system has changed and everything will look black until you select colors from the options. There are many more changes. Native CoursePro (12/17/03):
We are working on a version of CoursePro that will run natively on PalmOS. There are two main advantages to running a native version of CoursePro. First is a massive speed increase by not having to run on top of a virtul machine. Second is that the virtual machine is not required anymore. This means a savings of space in memory and less hassle associated with installation. Testing looks promising so far and native CoursePro seems to run between 2 and 5 times faster. Right now, the toolkit for building a native CoursePro is in Beta and HiRes support is not available. We are looking for people to test this version for stability. V0.7.0 Released (12/15/03):
This version incorporates the ability to change the order that your courses are displayed as well as a PocketPC style menubar for non-Palm users. CoursePro now saves the scrollbar position on exit so that you are looking at exactly what you left with when you start the application again. Also, this release fixes a few minor problems. (10/22/03) WinCE / PocketPC Menu Bar:
There is now a beta version of CoursePro which uses a Pocket PC style menu bar at the bottom of the screen instead of the tab at the top, when you are running on a WinCE/PocketPC device. To test this version and give your opinion, visit the forum.

V0.6.0 Released (10/15/03):
For those of you with high resolution devices, you will not notice a significant change in this version. There are a few fixes/tweaks but that is it. For those of you with low resolution devices, you will notice that CoursePro will now run on your device! Check out what's new.

V0.5.0 Released (10/08/03):
There are major improvements 'under the hood' in this version. Who will benifit? Anybody who thought CoursePro was slow in the previous version. You will be pleasantly surprised. This thing is much faster now. Almost the entire user interface has been rewritten for speed. If you thought CoursePro was slow, I invite you to try V0.5.0. There was also a grades report fix and a date handling issue that was fixed. For more information check out what's new.

(10/06/03) Icon/logo Contest:
We need a logo and an icon for CoursePro pretty badly. There have been quite a few releases but we are still using the standard SuperWaba icon. I have come up with a few sketches, but nothing I am particularly fond of. That is why we have decided to have a contest. This is your opportunity to use your art talent and come up with an icon for CoursePro. We are looking for an icon that people will know what it means when they see it. The icon must be 32x32 pixels. (09/29/03) Assignment Order Poll:
I am considering reversing the order that assignments show up under each course. I find it easier to check what needs to be done if the more urgent assignments are at the bottom for some reason. If nobody votes to keep it the way it is, I will change it. Vote for or against my proposal at the forum.

If you were having trouble downloading, it's because we mixed up the links in our haste to get the new version posted. The PPC link downloaded the Palm app, and the Palm link downloaded the PPC app. We've fixed it now! Carry on...

V0.4.1 beta (09/18/03):
There was a small bug in version 0.4.0. Anyone that downloaded that version, please upgrade to 0.4.1. Check out what's new. Under limited testing this version is known to be stable. If no new serious bugs are reported in one week, I will label this a stable release.

V0.4.0 beta (09/17/03):
Sorry for the delay, it has been a difficult week. There are alot of changes in this version so check out what's new. One of the biggest changes is the name, which has been changed to CoursePro. A preliminary calendar is in this version along with a very basic schedule tracker. There is now an installer for WinCE/PocketPC based devices so that you don't have to deal with figuring out which of the ten CAB files you need to install.

I have taken on another programmer. My twin brother will help me write future functionality into the application and accomodate your requests. He has started to write the calendar, which will be in the next version.

The new version is out along with the Windows version! Check out what's new.
If you are upgrading, you have to remove the CourseData.pdb file from your system or the program will probably crash. The new version uses a different file format.

V0.02b beta (08/28/03):
What's New: Updated late indicator icons for palm. The others were too small.
There is a known bug when you edit a course and do not open the course options dialog, your assignment types for that course will be removed. This has been fixed in the next version.

This is a feature upgrade. The new features include: Late and upcomming due assignment indicators, assignment types and weighting system, new options window that lets you choose your own colors from hundreds, remembers your view settings when you exit.
