Venue: Stonehurst -- The Robert Treat Paine Estate

Stonehurst, the country place of social reformer Robert Treat Paine and his family, is a masterpiece of integrated design crowning the career-long collaboration of two visionaries, architect Henry Hobson Richardson and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, whose work continues to inspire culturally and environmentally sensitive design. See more details on the website.

What to expect

The wedding ceremony will be outside (weather permitting), so please wear shoes you can safely walk in on the grass! Dinner and dancing will be indoors, but children (and adults) will have lots of space to run around outside. We'll have a babysitter to help out with keeping track of the kids in case their parents want to relax.

What to wear: Anything that makes you happy, or semi-formal/dressy casual attire if what makes you happy is clearer guidance.

Shuttle bus

Directions to the wedding

Stonehurst, our venue, is located at 100 Robert Treat Paine Drive, Waltham, MA, 02452. We suggest taking the shuttle, but below are some other options.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The Fitchburg line of the Commuter Rail runs from North Station in Boston to Central Square in Waltham, which is about one mile from Stonehurst.

From Central Square in Waltham, take the MBTA 554 bus. (The 554 bus runs regularly between nearby commuter rail stations: Central Square in Waltham and Waverly Square. It also runs to downtown Boston.)

Get off the 554 bus at the stop on the corner of Beaver and Forest Streets (just before the Bentley College stop). Walk west on Beaver Street a short distance to Robert Treat Paine Drive. Follow the drive uphill to the estate.

DRIVING FROM BOSTON: Take route 20W through Watertown Square on Main Street to Waltham. Turn right, heading north onto Lyman Street. Proceed straight through the rotary to Beaver Street heading northeast. Approximately 100 yards from the rotary, turn left at the sign for Stonehurst, and follow the driveway uphill to a parking area on the right.

DRIVING FROM ROUTE 128: Heading North on 128, take Exit 27B, Wyman St./Winter St./Totten Pond Rd. Take a right onto Wyman Street, and then the first left onto Totten Pond Road. Follow Totten Pond Road to the end.

Heading South on 128, take Exit 27A Totten Pond Rd./ Wyman St. The exit brings you around and over a bridge directly onto Totten Pond Road. Head straight on Totten Pond Road.

Stay in the middle lane as you reach the end of Totten Pond Road and take a gentle right at the lights onto Lexington Street, past the stone church. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Beaver Street. Follow Beaver Street to the rotary. Take the second right off of the rotary to continue on Beaver Street. Immediately after leaving the rotary, you will see a large sign on the left for Stonehurst. Turn left onto Robert Treat Paine Drive and follow the drive up to the crest of the hill. The parking lot is to the right.

The Boston Area: What to do and how to get there

Boston is a beautiful city, with museums, art, and of course history. There is a ton to do in the area. For events on specific days, check out The Boston Calendar. If you have time, we suggest you visit the Harbor Islands.

You can walk or take public transportation most anywhere. See any of a number of tourism sites dedicated to learning your way around. Getting on public transit at Boston Logan International Airport is free, but you'll need a Charlie Ticket or Charlie Card to use the T or buses after that. Google Maps is excellent at helping you plan your trips on public transit. The MBTA site provides up-to-date service advisories (and a worse route planner). You can also use ridesharing apps on your phone to hail cheap rides, especially Lyft or Uber. You can even take a Water Taxi around the harbor.
