I played with a local jam band (the Diggadome) for about two years. We finally parted last November; the guitarist moved to DC to continue his education, and the remaining members could not afford the practice space (at Waterfront Rehearsal Studios, easily the coolest studios in the Boston area). News flash -- we're regrouping. We've moved into a house in Belchertown, Mass, and are warming our chops up again to get back into the scene... stay tuned.
Piano and acoustic guitar are my two main instruments. I've got a heavy interest in jazz and improvisational piano; that somewhat carries over to the guitar. Every once in a while I like to pick up the electric bass. I appreciate both 6 and 12 string acoustics.
I really enjoy listening to music that moves, grooves, jams and feels good. I've found that in everything from improvisational rock to jazz to electronica; some of the artists that stand out in my mind are Phish, Coltrane, Miles Davis, 311, Morphine, Medeski Martin and Wood, Orbital, Bjork, Tori Amos, Dave Matthews, Bela Fleck...
Every aspect of life involves vibration. Hearts beat, lungs breath, the systems of the body move in synchronicity. More than that -- cellular structures vibrate, molecules vibrate and move, and atoms bounce around with seeming randomness. Vibration, energy -- it exists everywhere, in life and in inanimate objects, and in music, where the vibrations are fundamental to the sound. Musicians tune their 'A' note to 440 Hertz so they can play in tune -- and like music, our bodies, spirits, minds can all be tuned to perform in harmony. Music and energy flows through every part of life.
