I found Neal Stephenson's article "In the Beginning was the Command Line" to be a thouroughly enjoyable read. His ideas mirror those that I've had for a long time and present them much more eloquently than I could have hoped to. His analogy of the four major operating systems as different car dealerships in particular produced not only chuckles but many "Huh, I never thought of it that way" moments. I present to you two HTML enriched interpretations of another of his more profound passages.
