We seek an individual that is highly motivated and capable of working both
independently and in collaboration with others. The programmer will develop
code for a website that that allows researchers to use protein sequence,
interactive 3D protein structure visualization, gene ontology, short functional
motifs and other sources of data to identify leads for new drug target sites

bioinformatics or computer science journals or experience in commercial

The task includes implementation work on the scene analysis system SCENIC. We are conducting cutting edge research on quantitative evaluation of biosurveillance systems, simulation of disease outbreaks and outbreak detection algorithms. This research makes substantial use of statistics and probabilistic modeling and has at its disposal large datasets for research. Developments from this research will be used in state-of-the-art software developed by the RODS Laboratory. The RODS Laboratory is a dynamic, cross-disciplinary group that is a leader in biosurveillance research and development of biosurveillance software. It has pioneered numerous methods and techniques that are now standard in the field. The Application Tester is primarily focused on testing the system/application and/or Infrastructure using manual and automated tools. The test will vary from non-intrusive to intrusive depending on the location (production or testing environment) of the application or system. Responsibilities: Test systems for security weaknesses; the test typically consists of a simulated attack, to identify, evaluate and demonstrate vulnerabilities that exist within the application, system or infrastructure in its current state. Each finding is accompanied by a recommendation to remedy the exposure. Provide technical and operational support to clients, IT management, staff in the implementation of appropriate information security controls and procedures.
