An Overview of the IEEE-SA Project 802: LAN/MAN Standards Committee

Abstract

I'll be talking about the various projects that are underway in IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee, plus give a background on the IEEE 802 organization and how it fits within IEEE and the International Standards Development community. Some of the more interesting projects we are working on are: 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile, 802.11n Higher Speed Wireless LANS, 802.15.3a Ultra Wideband PHY for Personal Area Networks, 802.16 Fixed Broadband Wireless Access, 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring and 802.20 Mobile Broadband Wireless Access.
