IS U570 - Human-Computer Interaction
Spring 2004 - Prof Hafner
Assignment 3 - Due Feb 23, 2004
Create a Problem (Activity) Scenario (story and claims table) and a
Design Activity Scenario (story and modified claims table) for a public
library patron who wants to locate and check out a book about the
history of political parties in the United States. In the
scenario, the user finds two books, one of which is available and one
of which is already checked out. He checks out one book and puts
in a reservation for the other one.
For the problem scenario, assume that the library is not computerized
at all --- there is an old fashioned alphabetical card catalog. You are
designing a library information system which will include a
computerized catalog and support other functions such as checking out a
book and reserving a book that is unavailable, and your design activity
scenario is part of your initial design effort.
Note that you do not have to describe functionality that is not part of
the scenario (although you might think about it in order to make your
scenario more realistic). Note also that activity scenarios are
described in terms of information-level objects and actions, and do not
need to mention the specific screen objects and actions that will
eventually be used to realize the interface (such as menus buttons,
check boxes, etc).
