For the first assignment, you summarized what you perceive
to be the requirements for the semester project's "referee"
program.  For this assignment, you will propose preliminary
specifications for the "referee" program.

Write a short memo, no longer than three printed pages,
outlining your proposed specification for the "referee"
program the instructor is to write.  This specification
should focus on the "referee" program's interactions with
the program you will write as part of the semester project.

The quality of your writing will be graded.  Some people,
including your instructor, take a dim view of memos that
contain errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the
like, and are more impressed by well-written memos in
straightforward plain text than by fancy presentations of
sloppy writing.

Submit your memo in printed form at the beginning of class
on Friday, 25 January 2008.  The instructor deals with many
memos from many different people, so you should remember to
identify yourself in your memo.

Late assignments may be discounted, and very late assignments
are likely to be discarded.
