CS U670 Assignment #1.

You have heard the instructor give a vague description of
the semester project for CS U670.  Write a short memo, no
longer than two printed pages, that summarizes what you
perceive to be the requirements for the "referee" program
the instructor is to write.

Keep in mind that the program you write for your semester
project will be a client of the instructor's "referee"
program.  Your memo should mention all of the major
requirements you foresee for the instructor's program,
and should raise any major issues that concern you.

The quality of your writing will be graded.  Some people,
including your instructor, take a dim view of memos that
contain errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the
like, and are more impressed by well-written memos in
straightforward plain text than by fancy presentations of
sloppy writing.

Submit your memo in printed form at the beginning of class
on Friday, 18 January 2008.  The instructor deals with many
memos from many different people, so you should remember to
identify yourself in your memo.

Late assignments may be discounted, and very late assignments
are likely to be discarded.
