Participation
As noted in the syllabus, participation is worth 10% of your final grade. Participation counts in both the online Piazza discussion forums and during in-class discussions of papers and projects. Whenever we have readings outside of the textbook or assignments due, there will be time devoted during the class to discussion. I also expect each student to participate actively in the Piazza forums; I recommend checking them at least twice a week and posting any questions you have to those first. Instructional staff will be checking these forums frequently, and it is a much easier venue for communication than email.
It is important to me that I help foster an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, and critiquing (NOT criticizing) each other's assignments. Please come to me or the TA if you have any questions or concerns regarding the participation policy.
