CS G104: Computer Networks (not open to MS students in CS for credit)

Explores data networking. Focuses on concepts, technology, and implementation issues. Discusses distributed system requirements, network architecture, OSI model, communication protocols (TCP/IP), routing algorithms, local area networks, public data networks, vendor network architecture, PC networks, standards, inter networking, network management, and performance issues. Uses examples from real networks to reinforce theory. Requires using real networks and designing and implementing communication protocols.

Prerequisites: Knowledge of UNIX system or permission of instructor
