Taking Courses while on Co-op
Consideration will be given to take courses while on co-op under the following circumstances:
Student will have worked a minimum of one successful semester at the same company, and will be returning to the same company during the requested period.
Student will have worked a minimum of three successful months at the same company, and will be continuing for additional months in completing the full co-op period.
No minimum co-op period is required for students having developed their Own Co-op Assignment. The Own Job must be approved by your Co-op Faculty Coordinator.
Consideration steps:
Prepare a statement/e-mail addressed to your Co-op Faculty Coordinator, for the request which includes: reasons for taking courses during co-op, course meeting time,
work supervisor's name, phone number and company name. This letter must be complete.
Specify if the manager has approved your taking courses during co-op work time.
Pick up a Northeastern University Office of the Registrar Registration Form, from the Registrar's Office, or the College of Computer and Information Science.
Fill out the Registrar Form and have an approved Computer or Information Science faculty member approve the course and sign the petition.
The Registrar's Form should not be signed until you’re sure the Co-op Faculty Coordinator will approve taking a course while on co-op.
Bring the registrar’s form with you to see your Co-op Faculty Coordinator.
Taking a course while on co-op is generally not permitted during the first three months of a new co-op assignment.
