Own Job Petition Procedures (PCP)
(Students Who Have Previously Participated in the C.S. Co-op Program
and/or Have Completed All Orientation Sessions)
Northeastern University
Stearns Center and Cullinane Hall
- Prepare a resume.
NOTE: Resume must be of a quality that could be sent to an employer
from the Computer Science Co-op Office.
- Fill out an OWN JOB PETITION (or PETITION FOR TEMPORARY
EMPLOYMENT).
- Complete a History of School and Co-op Experience Form. This
form can be obtained at the co-op office, Stearns or Cullinane Hall.
- If your course sequence is not affected by this request, then go
to step 7.
- If there is a problem in following the standard curriculum course
schedule, then write up a course schedule, list courses to be taken
each quarter until graduation (see C.S. Manual). Elective courses
may be listed as electives for the current time. Co-op periods should
also appear.
- Have an approved faculty advisor of the College of Computer
Science approve the course schedule written above. His/her signature
is required on the course listing.
- If the Own Job Petition requires a division change, then you must
FIRST see Dr. Simms, and present the above materials.
NOTE: If NO division change is required, then make an appointment to
see a Computer Science Co-op Team Member.
Additional Steps if a Division Change is Needed.
- Have the approve faculty advisor also sign a college petition
specifying the change.
- Bring these materials with you to your appointment to see
Dr. Simms.

the letter to Dr. Melvin W. Simms. The cover letter should be
complete. Give history and reason(s) for own job request.

- Write up a course schedule. List courses to be taken each
quarter until graduation. Elective courses may be listed as electives
for the current time. Co-op periods should also appear.
